The defending CIAA champions continue to reload.
Winston-Salem State University women’s basketball has added transfer guard Makyiah Ward out of the portal, giving head coach Tierra Terry another intriguing piece for the 2026-27 season.
Ward arrives from Saint Francis University after spending her freshman campaign at the Division I level. The Oxon Hill, Maryland native appeared in 26 games (21 starts), averaging 4.8 points 4.8 points , 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals Ward topped double figures four times on the season, with a high mark of 15 coming against Le Moyne on January 2.
Ward now joins a Rams program coming off a historic 28-4 campaign that included the program’s first CIAA Tournament championship and a deep NCAA Division II tournament run.
WSSU has been active in the portal this offseason while also retaining much of last season’s core, signaling that the Rams are aiming to remain among the top programs in Division II women’s basketball.
